Influence of numerical noise on surface quasi-geostrophic turbulence

Published in Physics of Fluids, 2025

In this paper, the surface quasi-geostrophic (SQG) turbulence is numerically simulated by means of two methods (DNS and CNS). It details how artificial stochastic numerical noises lead to massive deviations from the benchmark solution, affecting spatiotemporal trajectories, spatial symmetry, and various statistical results.
