Large-scale influence of numerical noises as artificial stochastic disturbances on a sustained turbulence
Published in Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2022
By means of the Clean Numerical Simulation (CNS), this study uncovers how microscopic numerical noises, acting as artificial stochastic disturbances, invariably expand across scales to significantly influence the macroscopic structure and statistical properties of sustained turbulence fields.
